With that shown, that is a cut scene image. However one of the many beautiful things about this game is that the in game and cut scenes are almost on par with each other. That says alot. (<-that doesn't)Another great thing about this game is that the characters are very diverse with different motives that push them forward. Im not going to go through the story(for spoilers and its expansive), but it the basic premise of it is that society being afraid of what they do not know. Now what i really want to get into is the battle system. Oh god the battle system.
While some may see it as simplistic(at the beginning they may be right), it goes into so much more such as classes and the Paradigm system. Not only that the battle system opens up over the course of the game, almost feeding it to you in a way. The battle system is an ATB(active time battle seen in games such as final fantasy 10) but in a more advanced state. The characters move around in the battlefield and everything looks very fluid. Now with the Paradigm system, all of your teammates have roles such as Medic, Commando(the fighter), Ravager(black mage), Saboteur(cuts down the enemies defenses), and last but not least the Synergist (build your defenses). With all these classes and combinations one could say it could get abit interesting. Now this game isn't without its faults. So far(i'm on chapter 6) the path is clear cut and there isn't any deviations. So it could be said that there is linearity. Another thing is the game so far is pretty easy with the exception of one or two bosses and it feels a tad bit short(chapter 6 out of 13 chapters) compared to other Final Fantasy games. But I hear it'll open up later on so that should be good. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase of it and suggest you should pick it up, newcomers and ff veterans alike.
